“Ginza-Line” is the oldest metro line, not only in Tokyo and also in Asia. As its line will be celebrated the 90th anniversary in 2018, Tokyo Metro Corporation are planning to complete the renewal project for Ginza-Line all the stations. Following this project, they held a design competition for their metro station design of Tokyo’s east-side traditional district.

Metro station of today filled space in plenty of advertisement, characters and signs, especially in Tokyo. It is not only losing their own character of station, but also giving people disorderly impression. So we proposed the concept “EKI-MON”. It is characterizing each station with one graphic design that reflected each district culture.

The graphic design has multi-purpose function from station logo to characteristic furniture and spatial subway gate with its motif. By this way, it become easy to recognize when you arrive any station with this design, even in “Invisible Environmental” underground space.
